This month's Subjective Crop Forecast (PSS), together with the Conjunctural Bulletin from the Department of Rural Economy (Deral) of the Paraná State Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply (Seab) this week, confirms one of the most significant agricultural scenarios in recent years in Paraná. The main highlight of the period is a robust summer crop, driven by soybeans, which should exceed 22 million tons, reinforcing the expectation of a total production of 25,9 million tons in summer crops.

Even with a slower harvest pace due to the rains, the overall crop conditions remain favorable and the outlook is optimistic for the 2025/26 cycle.

Summer Grains

The summer harvest is proving to be the main driver of agriculture in Paraná at the start of this year. Data from PSS shows stability compared to the previous survey, and the good development of the crops, coupled with a significant cultivated area, supports expectations of a volume exceeding that recorded in the last harvest.

A soybean It plays a central role in crop performance. With an area of approximately 5,8 million hectares, projected production exceeds 22 million tons, consolidating yet another record harvest. By the end of January, about 5% of the area had been harvested, a slower pace than in previous years, reflecting frequent rains. Even so, the crops show good vegetative growth, and the predicted rainfall is considered crucial to confirming the expected yields.

O corn The first corn crop presents good production prospects, even though it occupies a smaller area than soybeans. The expectation is for an increase in total production, although yields will not reach the record levels observed in the previous cycle. The second corn crop is beginning to be planted according to the recommended schedule, with planting progressing mainly in the West and Southwest regions, as the soybean harvest advances. The performance of this stage will be fundamental to the final result of the state's harvest.

Already bean The first harvest is nearing its end with reduced area and production, a direct consequence of less attractive prices for producers at planting time. Estimated production is around 184 tons, approximately 46% less than the previous harvest. For the second harvest, the projected area is also smaller than the last cycle – although there is still an expectation of productive recovery, depending on weather conditions and the progress of planting in the coming weeks.

Horticulture

In horticulture, the highlight is the high quality of the harvested products, especially potato, onion e tomatoThe first potato harvest is already well advanced, with high quality standards, while the second harvest is still being planted. The onion harvest has concluded with satisfactory yields, despite a reduction in planted area. For tomatoes, even with a slight decrease in planted area, expectations point to a good harvest. However, the sector is facing lower prices, a reflection of oversupply and competition from other regions.

Fruits

Fruit farming in Paraná continues to expand its presence in the international market. In 2025, exports from the sector reached US$ 22,4 million, a significant increase compared to the last decade. Lemons, limas, bananas e avocados They lead the shipments, reinforcing the segment's potential as an alternative for diversification and adding value to state production.
