Soybean production in the 2024/25 harvest reaches historic record
StoneX survey indicates that the advance is due to the positive review of productivity in Bahia
The soybean health break in Rio Grande do Sul begins this Thursday (July 3) and runs until September 7. This is a period in which soybean plants cannot be kept alive at any stage of development. The 30-day break was defined by the Ministry of Agriculture (Mapa) through Ordinance 90/1217, which also establishes the grain sowing calendar in the state: from October 2025, 1 to January 2025, 28.
“The sanitary vacuum period and sowing calendar adopted for soybeans in Rio Grande do Sul is consolidated as a strategy to combat Asian rust, to guarantee pest management, maintenance of chemical tools and crop productivity for our state”, highlights the director of the Plant Defense Department of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation (Seapi), Ricardo Felicetti.
caused by fungus Phakopsora pachyrhizi, Asian rust is considered one of the most severe diseases affecting soybean production. Rio Grande do Sul has its own monitoring program for Asian rust spores in soybean producing regions, Monitora Ferrugem RS.
The methodology used by the program is to detect the presence of spores associated with meteorological conditions, to generate maps indicating the predisposition to the occurrence of the disease, assisting technicians and producers in decision-making and adopting management measures.
