Soybean harvesting has reached 88% of the cultivated area in Rio Grande do Sul, driven by the dry and stable weather of recent weeks, according to the Emater/RS Informativo Conjuntural. Maturation remains uneven, but grain quality has been improving. Average humidity is between 12% and 13%, which favors threshing and has led producers to extend shifts or hire outsourced services to avoid losses in case of rain.
In corn, the harvest reached 90%, with the remaining crops concentrated on small properties, which keep the cereal in the field due to a lack of storage facilities. High temperatures and dry weather contributed to the good production performance.
The corn silage harvest has reached 91%, following the evolution of the crops until the ideal cutting point. Rice is also progressing, with 91% of the area harvested. However, the low levels of irrigation dams are a concern for producers, who depend on rain for the next harvest.
The first bean harvest has ended, with an average yield of 1.838 kg/ha. The second harvest reached 23%, favored by the climate, but limited by the low maturity of the crops. The lack of rain is starting to impact soil moisture, and fungal diseases, such as anthracnose, require increased attention in phytosanitary management.
