A survey carried out by DATAGRO until last Friday (22) shows that the Brazilian soybean harvest for the 2021/22 harvest reached 92,7% of the estimated area, a weekly increase of 3,4 percentage points, above the average standard of 3,3. XNUMX p.p. for the period.
This year's flow remains behind the record of 97,6% observed at the same time in 2020, it is also lower than the 93,4% in the same period last year and the 93,0% average of the last 5 years.
“Slowness related to the preference of producers in the south of the country to harvest corn first”, explains Flávio Roberto de França Junior, Grains coordinator at DATAGRO.
Work is completed in Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, Tocantins, São Paulo and Minas Gerais. And virtually completed in Bahia, Paraná, Maranhão and Piauí.
The summer corn harvest in the Center-South of Brazil reached 92,6% of the area projected for the region, an increase of 3,6 p.p. compared to the week ended April 15, below the 4,3 p.p. of the normal average for the period, according to the DATAGRO survey.
Despite the slow progress, it remains well above the 88,1% at a similar time in 2021 and the 90,3% of the multi-annual average.
“For this new week, the call is for dry weather, which will favor the advancement of the summer harvest, but, on the other hand, brings some stress to winter crops”, says França Junior. “Due to the lack of precipitation in recent days, as well as the projections of dry weather next week, we may have some type of loss of production potential”, he adds.
