Company makes strategic contribution in Rio Grande do Sul
Bayer promoted the engagement of important players in the agribusiness sector, laying the foundations for what will become the Soy Innovation Club, an initiative that aims to discuss the evolution of the sector, resolve bottlenecks, debate technical issues and any subject that promotes more innovation, technology and sustainability of culture in Brazil. The event was held at the company's unit in Santa Cruz das Palmeiras, in the interior of São Paulo.
The main representatives of the soy chain and those directly responsible for the next advances that will be experienced by the crop in the country were present, as stated Fernando Prudente (in the video above), director of soy and cotton business at Bayer's agricultural division.
“We are a company with an important guiding principle of collaboration and co-creation, anchored in the open innovation model, and this coalition is a reflection of this. We know the importance of teaming up with different agents and professionals in the sector to be able to provide even faster solutions that make sense for the farmer. It is from this group that the main innovations and decisions for the future of soybean farming will be born”, highlights Prudente.
The Bayer unit chosen for the launch event is a reference in research and development in the agro sector. In Santa Cruz das Palmeiras, studies are conducted in laboratories, greenhouses and in experimental fields to develop new solutions, biotechnologies and crop protection products, from the discovery stage to the pre-commercial launch phases. In the video below, the station leader, Paula Antunes, explains the work carried out in the unit.
“We are committed to offering the best solutions for each producer. At the Santa Cruz das Palmeiras unit, we were able to present the next frontiers of innovation and also show in practice how important it is to maintain a safe legal environment and intellectual property protection for innovation in the country, which allows the continued evolution of the culture of soy in Brazil with technologies developed for the needs of Brazilian farmers”, says Prudente.
“It is this security that will allow companies like Bayer to bring biotechnologies into the coming decades that will directly contribute to building the future of the sector.”
During the event, guests saw up close the next innovations that will be brought by Bayer to Brazilian farmers, such as the new generation of Intacta soybeans, already in the pre-commercial testing phase, and the next crop protection products that will enter the market .
The unit is a reference in research and development in the agribusiness sector. On site, biotechnologies are developed and tested for the most diverse crops, such as soybeans and corn, and solutions for the field. The total area is 31,2 hectares, 14,5 of which are dedicated to the test field.
The experimental station is accredited for agrochemical studies and also has a biosafety quality certificate (CQB) for studies with genetically modified organs (GMOs). One of the lines of research involves the development of short-stature corn varieties adapted to Brazil. In the video below, the agronomist Hallison Vertuan explains more about the subject...
