It is necessary to produce with technology and zeal
After major technological developments focused on agriculture, the time has come for a broader look at the soil-plant-machine system
In locations where rainfall occurred, soil moisture made it possible to resume soybean planting and the preparation of areas that had been interrupted. According to the Conjunctural Information, produced and published this Thursday (25/11) by the Planning Management of Emater/RS-Ascar, linked to the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development (Seapdr), sowing has already reached 68% in the State, with this entire area undergoing germination and vegetative development.
Between the 16th and 21/11 there was dry weather, low relative humidity in the air and soil and the presence of constant wind, which made corn development difficult. In some locations, the return of rainfall has alleviated the situation, especially in those where crops are flourishing, forming the ear and filling the grains. Planting reaches 86% of the estimated total area, with 55% in germination and vegetative development, 27% in flowering and 18% in grain filling.
The previous week was characterized by the maintenance of dry weather in most of the State, which favored the wheat harvest, which is on its way to completion and has now reached 97%. The rest of the crops are mature.
Even with the occurrence of rain on 17/11, with low volumes in part of the Emater/RS-Ascar de Bagé region, associated with high sunshine, vegetable growers in the host municipality intensified the use of sprinkler and drip irrigation. The brightness and still mild temperatures have favored production and supply at the local fair.
In the Campaign, in Hulha Negra, the rainfall recorded was uneven, but the availability of moisture for the coriander and onion crops for seeds is still satisfactory. The control of the main diseases in onion crops is being facilitated by the low volume of precipitation since the beginning of November, allowing a longer interval between fungicide applications. In coriander, pesticide applications have ended and the grain formation phase is approaching its end, with harvest expected to begin by the end of the first week of December.
In Candiota, the expectation is for a good harvest of coriander seeds, as was the case last year, with yields close to 1,5 kilos per hectare. The onion is in the process of forming seeds and maturing. The first crops should be harvested manually in the coming weeks, with good production potential.
In the Emater/RS-Ascar de Ijuí region, irrigated watermelon and melon with a good amount of fruit. Melon with few ripening fruits and watermelon at the beginning of ripening. Low air humidity causes powdery mildew attacks on vines and producers continue phytosanitary treatments. In Ijuí, those with fruit seedlings begin preparations for grafting peach and plum trees. The orange crop is experiencing a sharp drop in developing fruit due to drought.
The beginning of this week was marked by a lack of rain, which caused a drop in the quality of forage species, both native and cultivated. This situation changed after the occurrence of rain, which returned the necessary moisture to the soil, enabling plant growth to resume.
