Mato Grosso accounts for 23,8% of the country's static storage capacity, with space for 33,4 million tons of grains in public and private warehouses. Of this total, 94% is for bulk storage. The data appears in the September edition of the Agricultural Indicators Magazine, from the National Supply Company (Conab).

Starting this month, the magazine brings a detailed analysis of the storage panorama in each unit of the Federation, starting with Mato Grosso – the largest grain producer in Brazil. Considering the average of the last five harvests, the state alone was responsible for the production of 45,8 million tons of grains, around 24% of the country's total. The most produced grains are soybeans and corn, which justifies the concentration of grain warehouses.

This edition also confirms Conab's increasing interest in disseminating studies and research focused on agriculture, as is the case with the article The Culture of Grain Sorghum as a Production Alternative in the Second Harvest in the Brazilian Center-West. The article was written by the technical area of the Regional Superintendence of Mato Grosso do Sul.

The publication also provides updated data on Conab's activities focused on family farming, the price guarantee policy and agricultural quotations and the horticultural market, among other highlights.

Published 25 years ago, the Revista Indicadores da Agropecuária is an important source of reference for the government, in the formulation and implementation of public policies.
