The Brazilian government received news of the simplification of the approval procedure required for exports of cotton lint, cotton seed and cotton waste (bran, cake, fibril and oil) from Brazil to Saudi Arabia.

This is the sixth market opening in Saudi Arabia this year. In March, the import of vegetable seeds was authorized; in August, live poultry; and this month, flowers and hay.

With the announcements, Brazilian agribusiness reached its 187th market opening this year, totaling 265 openings in 61 destinations since the beginning of 2023.

The achievement coincides with Brazil's consolidation as the world's largest cotton exporter. In the first nine months of 2024, the country has already traded US$3,68 billion and 1,90 million tons, surpassing the total of US$3,33 billion and 1,68 million tons exported in 2023.

These results are the result of joint work between the Ministry of Agriculture (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
