Action coordinated by auditors from the Ministry of Agriculture and state agencies reinforces the fight against the use of irregular agricultural products
The State Secretariat for Agriculture and Livestock (SAR) develops specific projects for agricultural production in winter: the Forage Kit and the Incentive for the Cultivation of Winter Cereals, actions that are part of the Terra Boa Program. This Program provides financial transfers to rural producers to expand the grain production area. To access public policies, farmers must look for the Epagri unit in the respective municipality.
The Secretary of State for Agriculture and Livestock, Valdir Colatto, highlights the State Government's effort to supply the market with winter cereals produced in Santa Catarina. “Our goal is to reach 20 thousand hectares with the grain production incentive project. We want to stimulate the full production potential, with management appropriate to the season”, says Colatto.
The Kit Forrageira project aims to implement and improve pastures, aiming at the production of pasture-based milk and meat. The Kit consists of around 80 products and can be accessed by producers to improve the diet of cattle, especially dairy farmers.
The kit allows the farmer to purchase seeds and inputs to stake the area, improve pasture and provide shade and water for the animals. The amount accessed by producers can reach R$8,58 thousand, divided into three quotas of R$2,86 thousand each. Rural young people graduating from Rural Youth Action Project courses will be entitled to up to seven quotas.
Payment can be made in three interest-free annual installments. If the payment is made in a single installment, on the due date of the first installment, the farmer receives a 30% discount. This year, SAR allocated more than 10 million to this program, benefiting 2 thousand producers, with a total of 4 thousand kits.
In the Winter Cereals Cultivation Incentive project, SAR encourages the production of wheat, barley, oats and rye grains. To participate, the producer must look for accredited cooperatives or agricultural houses and sign a membership agreement, committing to cultivate some of the cereals and delivering the grain produced to be used for the manufacture of feed.
SAR support is up to 10 hectares per producer, worth R$385,00/ha. Santa Catarina has a high demand for cereals, as a source of energy for poultry, cattle and pig feed. Due to their nutritional value, they are used as corn substitutes in swine and poultry farming.
