In 2019, SLC Agrícola began large-scale production of soybean seeds to be sold outside the company. With the SLC Sementes brand, the main focus is on the states of Mato Grosso, Tocantins, Maranhão, Piauí and Bahia, although there are also buyers interested in Minas Gerais, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul and a part of Pará. Last year it was A small volume was produced to test quality and sales operations and, this year, production reached 300 thousand 40-kilo bags, with 60% of this total being sold. The remainder was for the company's own consumption.

The New Business and Seed Sales Manager at SLC Agrícola, Ricardo Oliveira, explains that the production of seeds for sale to the domestic market began at Fazenda Pamplona, in Goiás, and today also occurs in the company's other units present in six states. “Today we have the direct producer who buys our product, but we also access some distribution channels, such as Cargill, a large multinational in the country. As a result, the scope of SLC Sementes ends up being much greater”, he highlights.

According to Oliveira, this year the company already works with around 100 customers, and the sales region has a business potential that can reach up to 1 million bags. “It’s a size that will balance cost/benefit, without losing quality. The range of varieties that producers consume today can reach 15 different cultivars. We use our farms as a sample of what we are going to do with SLC Sementes, and the area we serve is the same area we produce”, he notes.

Oliveira states that SLC Sementes is a product that SLC Agrícola trusts, uses and has a guarantee of vigor and quality. “In a way, the buyer is sharing, together with SLC Agrícola, good sustainability and production practices, it is a partner of a large producer group that is present throughout Brazil”, he emphasizes, remembering that the company has a technical team that provides support. “Our goal is to grow”, he concludes.
