SC exports 70% of its agricultural production, says federation

The Federation of Business Associations of Santa Catarina (FACISC) launched, this Tuesday (25), the Santa Catarina Agribusiness Map, an unprecedented study that highlights the relevance of the agricultural sector in the state. In 2023, production reached R$87,3 billion, and exports in 2024 already total R$62,8 billion, representing 70% of Santa Catarina's external sales.

The survey, based on data from IBGE, MDIC and MTE, reveals that Santa Catarina's agribusiness employs more than one million people, both formal and informal, and encompasses 38 establishments. The study also highlights the importance of investments in technology and infrastructure to maintain the sector's competitiveness.

Each region of the state plays a strategic role in agribusiness: the West leads in livestock and the food industry; the Serra stands out in the production of apples and timber; the North is strong in fruit farming and the textile sector; the Itajaí Valley stands out in the production of onions and agro-industrial equipment; the South invests in tilapia and quail eggs; and Greater Florianópolis maintains the leadership in the national production of oysters and shellfish.

Industry leaders emphasize that the Map will serve as a tool to direct investments and strengthen the state's competitiveness in the national and international market.
