Producers should expect good average productivity this harvest, despite climate problems in some regions
São Paulo's grain production in the 2022/23 season is expected to reach 10,3 million tons – an increase of 5,5% compared to the previous cycle. The data comes from the 1st Survey of the 2022/23 Harvest, published this Thursday (06/10) by the National Supply Company (Conab).
The biggest increase is expected in sorghum production, which could jump 31%, from 32,3 thousand tons in 2021/22 to 42,3 thousand tons in 2022/23. This increase is mainly due to the improvement in productivity, since a significant increase in the planted area is not expected.
For soybean production, a 6% growth in 2022/23 production is also forecast in relation to the previous harvest, estimated at 4,4 million tons. With the sanitary void ending on September 15th, the first official opening event for the 2022/23 soybean planting season was held on the 22nd of last month, in Santa Cruz do Rio Pardo. However, the still frequent rainfall delays planting operations, which only reach 2% of the planned area.
The highest rainfall accumulations in the Southeast Region were observed in the south and west of São Paulo, with values above 120 mm, maintaining high soil water storage, important for the start of the summer harvest in these areas. The temperature forecast is at or slightly below average.
