São Paulo announces R$ 455 million package for credit and insurance in agriculture.

The São Paulo State Government announced a R$ 455 million package for agribusiness during Agrishow 2026, focusing on expanding rural credit, increasing agricultural insurance, and regularizing land tenure. The measures were presented by Governor Tarcísio de Freitas in Ribeirão Preto and are part of a strategy to strengthen production and competitiveness in the sector within the state.

The main highlight is the reinforcement of the São Paulo Agribusiness Expansion Fund (Feap), which will have R$ 400 million in the 2026/2027 cycle — the largest amount ever allocated to the program. The resources will be applied to financing and subsidy lines for operating costs and investments in rural properties.

"Expanding FEAP guarantees credit with subsidized interest rates and more security for producers to plan for future harvests," the governor stated.

In the area of ​​risk management, the package allocates R$ 100 million to rural insurance, with the potential to cover approximately 20 policies and protect up to R$ 25 billion in production value. The Pró-Trator program will receive R$ 40 million to encourage the purchase of machinery and equipment.

The package of measures also includes R$ 25 million for Feap Mulher, a line of credit aimed at female rural producers, which will now accumulate more than R$ 50 million since its creation. This initiative was accompanied by the formalization of the Thematic Chamber for Women in Agribusiness, focused on strengthening female participation in the sector.

Another relevant change is the ongoing requirement for the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR) as a condition for accessing credit, insurance, and subsidies, aligning incentives with environmental regularization.

Municipalities and infrastructure

The package also includes actions to directly support municipalities. 177 machines were delivered to 174 cities in São Paulo state, totaling R$ 55 million in investments within the Rural Patrol program. Since 2023, the initiative has distributed 640 pieces of equipment to 340 municipalities, with an investment of R$ 240 million.

Agreements were also signed with 90 cities recognized by the Agro Municipality program, totaling R$ 6 million in transfers to strengthen local public policies focused on the sector.

Regulation and research

In the land tenure area, 42 rural regularization titles were delivered, expanding a program that already totals more than 5,3 titles and 250 hectares regularized in the state, mainly benefiting small and medium-sized producers.

The package also includes measures to strengthen agricultural research, with the appointment of 37 new researchers to APTA and the expansion of the recruitment process with seven more positions, replenishing the institution's technical staff.

Integrated actions

The government also announced joint initiatives between departments, focusing on sustainability, risk prevention, and regional development. Among these is the regulation of the controlled use of fire in agricultural activities, with a division of responsibilities among state agencies.

Another highlight is the partnership for ecological restoration projects in settlements in the Pontal do Paranapanema region, including the recovery of protected areas, income generation, and the promotion of sustainable practices.

Showcase at Agrishow

With one of the largest booths at the fair, the Government of São Paulo presents its public policies and services in a space dedicated to the practical demonstration of solutions for rural producers. Among the highlights is the Handicrafts Pavilion, which brings together 90 producers from sectors such as coffee, cheese, cachaça, and wine, promoting regional identity and generating business.
