A new report from the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of the State of São Paulo (Faesp), prepared by the Economic Department based on data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), indicates that the São Paulo trade balance closed September 2024 with a deficit of US$ 431 million. Although agribusiness recorded a positive balance of US$ 2,05 billion, the other sectors resulted in a negative balance of US$ 2,49 billion, causing the deficit in the state balance.

Agribusiness exports in São Paulo totaled US$ 2,53 billion, but registered a 4,8% drop compared to September 2023, which can be explained by the decline in exports of ethyl alcohol, soybeans, fresh chicken meat and raw cane sugar. On the other hand, fresh beef, orange juice and green coffee had significant growth in shipments.

The increase in imports by São Paulo's agribusiness sector was even greater, 22%, totaling US$ 470,9 million. This result is due to the increase in the value of fresh or refrigerated salmon purchased; vegetable seeds, legumes, roots and tubers; powdered milk; and other products from the sector.

At the national level, Brazil's trade balance had a surplus of US$5,4 billion in September. With a positive balance of US$11,8 billion, agribusiness once again offset the US$6,4 billion deficit in other sectors.
