The Goiás Agricultural Defense Agency (Agrodefesa), an agency of the Government of Goiás, warns rural producers and other users of the Goiás Agricultural Defense System (Sidago) to pay attention to the security of their login details and password to access the platform. Since January this year, users who log into the system receive a message asking them to change their password. The request is due to the possibility of irregular use of access data, by third parties, to attempt to carry out fraudulent actions with the state fiscal and tax systems, such as false declarations and improper movement of animals.

This type of preventive measure is carried out mainly by systems that have a large volume of use and can be targets of fraud attempts, as is the case with banking networks and Sidago itself. “Our Agricultural Defense System, Sidago, has a series of security components, as well as a banking system, as it contains information that is used by the Tax Authorities and other finance bodies to monitor legal issues linked to property and health”, highlights the president from Agrodefesa, José Ricardo Caixeta Ramos.

“What often happens is that the rural producer, who has a username and password, passes this data on to third parties who, in possession of this information, can use it in bad faith to try to circumvent inspection. This is a crime and that is why we warn our users, producers, not to pass on this data to third parties and to change their password in the System every six months”, he reinforces.

Size

There are two situations that can lead to fraud in Sidago and, consequently, in the health, fiscal, state and federal tax system. The first of these is when the producer or user of the system passes on their username and password to third parties who may use it in bad faith to circumvent animal movement information or asset declarations.

The second possibility is when the producer himself manipulates the information to benefit himself, such as a larger declaration of animals to simulate a false guarantee of assets to obtain loans, for example. “In both cases, the Government of Goiás is working to identify and punish the perpetrators and those responsible. This action by Agrodefesa protects our producers who are correct from a sanitary and legal point of view, as well as society as a whole which can be harmed by people with bad intentions, acting in fiscal and tax crimes”, he adds.

To avoid problems like this, Agrodefesa recommends similar security measures to a person in possession of a bank card:

• Never pass on data such as Sidago username, email and password to third parties;

• Always update your registration data, such as email, cell phone or address in the system itself or at the Agrodefesa unit (this data is extremely important for the agency to investigate cases of suspected fraud);

• When registering your password, do not use date of birth, personal information such as telephone number or names of people close to you that can easily be tested by third parties;

• If you find any suspicion of irregularity in accessing your file or leaking your password, inform Agrodefesa of the fact and change your password immediately.

constant monitoring

In addition to providing guidance on the need to pay attention to the use of login and password, Agrodefesa constantly monitors any possibility of fraud using data from Sidago users. In case of discrepancies in information, the teams are called to verify and confirm the data entered in the System.

The director of Agricultural Defense at Agrodefesa, Augusto Amaral, informs that as suspected cases of fraudulent information are identified in Sidago, the Agency notifies the Civil Police and the Secretariat of Economy so that they can be investigated. “Agrodefesa and the Government of Goiás, broadly speaking, have as their fundamental premise the fight against corruption. We know that fraud can cause not only fiscal, but also health and economic losses and that is why we always go to great lengths to identify and punish those involved, including perpetrators of crimes and those who collude in fraud”, he reinforces.
