The granting of rural credit in Brazil reached R$ 83 billion in the first six months of 2025, registering a 16% decrease compared to the same period in 2024. According to the Serasa Experian Agro Bulletin, the value fell by approximately R$ 16 billion.

The datatech company used data based on 2,8 million individuals mapped in the rural population who contracted rural or agro-industrial financing and authorized the use of data from the Positive Credit Registry. According to Marcelo Pimenta, head of agribusiness at Serasa, one of the factors contributing to the decline is the more cautious market trend.

"At the same time, the sector faces challenges such as the gradual increase in default rates, climate events, and stricter socio-environmental compliance criteria," he assesses.
