With a strong dollar and lower domestic availability, wheat prices rise
According to Cepea employees, with sellers withdrawn and firm in their offers, domestic liquidity is low
The harvest of the first Robusta coffee beans of the 2020/21 season has started in Rondônia. According to Cepea employees, so far, work has only started in the earliest crops, but agents expect activities to progress in the rest of the coffee plantations by the end of this month.
In this scenario, some batches of new coffee have already reached the market. Even so, prices for the variety in the state of Rondônia have been supported by demand from exporters and roasters.
In Espírito Santo, agents do not expect to receive batches of new coffee until April. Although some producers may begin harvesting some early coffee plantations at the end of March, these should only reach the market next month. In the rest of the crops, work should effectively begin in the first week of April, with the largest volume of grains reaching the market in May.
In the arabica producing regions, despite some specific concerns regarding the hotter and drier weather in recent weeks, agents point out that high temperatures have, in general, favored the ripening of the beans in all regions monitored by Cepea. According to employees, the harvest should begin in May in most areas and in mid-April in Zona da Mata (MG).
