In some locations, after practically 15 days without rain, with high temperatures and lack of moisture in the surface layer of the soil, there is a need for precipitation in the next few days to guarantee a good plant stand. Low grain prices led several producers to opt for planting wheat and soybeans, instead of corn.

In the Frederico Westphalen region, most producers are preparing areas for sowing. There are, however, areas that have already been sown, mainly those located close to the Uruguay River, such as the municipalities of Pinheirinho do Vale, Vicente Dutra, Iraí, among others.

In the Santa Rosa region, in municipalities where rainfall was lower, sowing advanced, reaching 40% of the area in some places. Newly sown crops show good germination due to the average temperature in this atypical winter, providing an excellent plant population in certain areas. Some producers must sow at the beginning of September, aiming for better temperature and soil conditions for faster crop emergence. In areas already established, adequate plant stand formation is observed.
