Vinicius Batista has been with the company for over 14 years and took on the role this month
The ports of Rio Grande do Sul ended the year 2023 with a general growth of 13.88%, compared to 2022. The data also shows increases of 14.40% in the Rio Grande unit of Portos RS, of 5.27% in the Pelotas unit and 2.65% at the Porto Alegre unit, reaching a total of 44.835.679 tons handled.
Over the 365 days of last year, 3.691 vessels passed through Rio Grande do Sul's waterways, 2.971 of which were destined for the Port of Rio Grande, 571 for the Port of Pelotas and another 149 heading for the Port of Porto Alegre. Solid bulk was the majority of products moved, with 29.312.912 tons.
The performance obtained by public ports in Rio Grande do Sul in 2023 was the second best result in the last five years and the expectation is that the next ones will be even greater numbers, due to investments in infrastructure and the brand's internationalization strategy, put into practice since the consolidation of the change of legal nature.
The first full year of operation as a public company allowed the carrying out of structural works that gave greater mobility, agility and modernity to the state's main seaport. Some of them have already been completed and others, such as the new Gate 2, should be completed and delivered to the port community soon.
