Rio Grande do Sul extends soybean planting calendar.

The deadline for soybean planting in Rio Grande do Sul has been extended to February 15th. The decision was communicated this week by the Department of Plant Protection of the state's Agriculture Secretariat to the Ministry of Agriculture (Mapa). Producers who need to plant outside the official calendar must request authorization from the secretariat through an online form. 

The soybean planting calendar established by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) for the 2025/2026 crop season runs from October 1, 2025 to January 28, 2026, according to the guidelines of the National Program for the Control of Asian Soybean Rust. Among the factors that motivated the request for extension are adverse weather conditions and the late planting of corn in Rio Grande do Sul.

"It's a relevant alternative for producers who truly need this extra time," emphasizes the Secretary of Agriculture, Edivilson Brum. 

According to the document sent to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), the delay in planting corn crops, due to weather conditions, as well as the rains that occurred in December 2025 and January 2026, tend to delay the harvest of the crop in some situations. "These cases justify extending the planting deadline in specific situations, especially in soybean crops following corn, a strategic crop for the State," notes the director of the Department of Plant Protection, Ricardo Felicetti.
