In 10th place in the national ranking of largest producers, Goiás is expected to register growth in cultivated area and volume of rice in the 2023/2024 Harvest. Rice farming in Goiás is the cover theme of the December edition of Agro em dados. Published by the Government of Goiás, through the State Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Seapa), the technical bulletin shows that state rice production should reach 88,2 thousand tons in the current cycle (+8,1% compared to to the last cycle), while the cultivated area should reach 16 thousand hectares (+9,6%). The impact of El Niño should be seen more clearly on productivity. The official estimate is that the average yield per hectare will fall to 5,5 tons (-1,4%).

In December's Agro em dados, the reader has access to a complete overview of rice production in Goiás. The publication presents current prices; historical price and production series, rankings of Gross Production Value (VBP) and producing municipalities in the State; in addition to exports. An analytical text, signed by Seapa's Agricultural Market Intelligence team, details the situation of rice farming in Goiás today — mostly practiced in irrigated areas — and reveals the outlook for the current season: “After the decline in the cultivated area seen in the previous season , in this harvest, the crop is trying to recover space, encouraged by the attractiveness of prices, which remain above the levels of previous years”.

As is customary, the new edition of Agro em dados also brings figures relating to the main agricultural chains in Goiás: cattle, pigs, chickens, dairy products, soybeans and corn. Head of Seapa, secretary Pedro Leonardo Rezende explains that the objective of the publication is to keep the public well informed about the sector's performance, showing both the historical evolution, the current scenario and the prospects for the coming months. “It is a complex work that involves compiling, processing and analyzing information from reliable sources, with the aim of providing the reader with quality content that really makes a difference when making decisions,” he says.
