Rice prices recover in July, but monthly average drops

Paddy rice prices rose in Rio Grande do Sul on practically every day of July. In the month, the increase was 9,16%, with more expressive reactions in the second fortnight.

According to Cepea employees, the valuations reflected the more active presence of buyers in the market and the restriction of sellers, especially in the second half of the period. However, despite the recovery in prices, the monthly average for July was 1,8% below that of June, at R$71,83/sc 50 kg.

In nominal terms, the July/21 average was 11,08% higher than July/20, but, on the other hand, when considering deflation by the IGP-DI based on Jun/21, the Jul/21 average is 15,5 .20% lower than the same period last year and becomes the lowest since Mar/XNUMX.
