Rice harvest reaches 79,3% of the area in Rio Grande do Sul.

The rice harvest in Rio Grande do Sul has already reached 79,30% of the planted area, maintaining a good overall performance. The data was released this Thursday (April 16) by the Rio Grande do Sul Rice Institute (Irga). 

The Outer Coastal Plain (PCE) region, with 88%, and the Southern Zone (ZS), with 83,56%, are leading the progress, showing greater advancement in the work in these regions. With the harvest approaching its final phase, a slowdown in the pace of harvesting is expected, characteristic of this period due to the remaining areas. The rains recorded throughout the week also contributed to a less accelerated progress of the activities.

According to Irga's Technical Director, Flávia Tomita, "the harvest is progressing consistently in the State, especially in the PCE and ZS regions, and, at this final stage of the harvest, a reduction in pace is natural, also influenced by the rains recorded throughout the week."
