Rice harvest exceeds 50% of the area in Rio Grande do Sul

Rice producers in Rio Grande do Sul have already harvested 447.458 hectares (ha) of the 2022/2023 harvest, which represents 53,27% of the total sown area of ​​839.972 ha. Thus, there are just over 390 thousand hectares left to complete the work.

The most advanced region is Fronteira Oeste, with 63,99% of harvested area (160.673 ha of 251.096 ha sown). Next comes the Campaign, with 62,80% (76.966 ha out of 122.548 ha). The Outer Coastal Plain is at 57,02% (53.560 ha of 93.927 ha).
The other regions are as follows: Internal Coastal Plain with 47,47% (58.276 ha of 122.767 ha); Central appears with 39,59% (44.360 ha of 112.051 ha); and the South Zone has 38,98% (53.623 ha of 137.583 ha).

According to the Irga survey, the average productivity in the Western Frontier is 8.875 kilos per hectare, in the Campaign 8.826 kilos per hectare, in the Outer Coastal Plain 8.312 kilos per hectare, in the Inner Coastal Plain 9.041 kilos per hectare, in the Central Region 8.678 kilos per hectare and South Zone 9.496 kilos per hectare. The State's average productivity to date is 8.876 kilos per hectare.

The partial was tabulated by the municipality's Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Division, based on information collected by the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Centers (Nates) from producers in RS.

Observation: The numbers released in this report are based on the area actually harvested. The cultivated areas that remained lost due to the absolute impossibility of irrigation due to drought will be counted, for production and productivity purposes, at the end of the harvest data collection.
