In June, 62% of coffee export ships were delayed

Rio Grande do Sul (RS) is responsible for 70% of national rice production and part of this quantity reaches the international market from the Port of Rio Grande, in the south of the state. Last year, 1.492.964 tons of grain were exported in its most varied forms, including shelled, shelled and broken.
The rice format is associated with the needs of each cargo destination market and the Port of Rio Grande is able to meet and provide the appropriate service for all of them. Throughout 2023, rice produced in Rio Grande do Sul was sent to Mexico (309.546t), Senegal (223.689t), Costa Rica (217.683t), Venezuela (187.428t) and Peru (117.602t ).
Of the total exported in 2023, the public dock was responsible for the largest movement, reaching 1.167.473 tons. Next are the Container Terminal (Tecon) with 211.137 tons, the multipurpose pier at Estaleiro Rio Grande (ERG) with 62.383 tons, the Bianchini terminal with 40.564 tons and the Tergrasa terminal with 11.406 tons.
In the first half of 2024, shipping operations reached 460.107 tons and the Port of Rio Grande handled 361.596 tons. Another 98.511 tons passed through Tecon Rio Grande
According to data from the Riograndense Rice Institute (Irga), 2023 hectares of irrigated rice were sown in the 2024/900.203 harvest in Rio Grande do Sul, compared to 839.972 hectares in the 2022/2023 harvest.
The rice that is destined for export through the Port of Rio Grande is stored in suitable structures existing in the area of the port complex, including Tergrasa and the Terminal Logístico do Arroz (TLA), where the silos of the extinct Companhia Estadual de Silos e Armazéns operated. (Cesa). The site is operated by the company AC Vita through a transition agreement.
The company was also the winner of an auction held by the National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq) in December last year and after signing the contract by Portos RS and the Ministry of Ports and Airports, it is awaiting the Provisional Acceptance Term to begin to the new lease for a maximum, non-extendable period of ten years.
