Recupera Rural RS offers training in SAFs and restoration

The Recupera Rural RS Plan, through the Plataforma Colaborativa Sul, promotes two training sessions in September and October aimed at the environmental and productive recovery of rural areas affected by the climate events of 2023 and 2024.

From September 22nd to 24th, the course will focus on Agroforestry Systems (SAFs) and Ecological Restoration. From September 30th to October 2nd, the Ecological Restoration Training will be held at the University of Vale do Taquari (Univates).

The activities are designed for farmers, extension workers, and rural technical assistance technicians. Course lengths vary between 15 and 24 hours, combining theoretical and practical content.

The initiative is organized in partnership by Univates, Emater/RS and Embrapa, coordinated by Ernestino de Souza Gomes Guarino (Embrapa Temperate Climate) and Elisete Maria De Freitas (Univates).

Relevance to the Taquari Valley

The Taquari Valley, one of the regions most impacted by floods and other recent extreme weather events, will directly benefit from the training. Organizers believe the initiative contributes to increasing socio-environmental resilience and preparing farmers and technicians to face the challenges of productive recovery and environmental preservation.

The Recupera Rural RS Plan is part of the Southern Collaborative Platform for Mitigation of Adverse Climate Effects on Agriculture, an initiative by Embrapa in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa).

The actions aim to support the reconstruction of rural activities, encourage sustainable practices, and strengthen Rio Grande do Sul's agriculture in the face of climate change.
