Embrapa Agrossilvopastoril (Sinop, MT) released the first Agrometeorological bulletin for the 2021/2022 harvest in Mato Grosso. According to the publication, the distribution of rainfall in the state has been favorable for soybean sowing in all regions.
The accumulated precipitation and precipitation anomaly maps show that in September, when the soybean fallow period ends and the sowing window begins, rainfall was well distributed in almost the entire state. Only in the southeast region did the rainfall accumulate below expectations.
In October, when the sowing window begins with the lowest risk established by the Agricultural Climate Risk Zoning (Zarc), the rains were widespread and well distributed throughout the state, with the mid-north region having a slightly higher concentration. The same scenario persisted in the first 17 days of November, and, in addition to the mid-north region, the northeast region also had a large concentration of rain.
According to the authors of the Bulletin, the greater concentration of rain may have caused some occasional disruptions, but, in general, it did not harm the establishment of the harvest, which this year is further along compared to the previous year. According to the 2nd Survey of the 2021/2022 Grain Harvest by the National Supply Company (Conab), by the end of October 84,3% of soybean crops had already been sown. In the same period of 2020, the percentage was 44,7%.
The Agrometeorological Bulletin also contains rainfall data from the Embrapa Agrossilvipastoril automatic meteorological station, in Sinop. According to records, in September there was 59,2mm of accumulated precipitation. In the last five years, only in 2018 had the volume been higher.
In October it was 115,1 mm, the lowest volume for this month in the last five years. In the first ten days of November, 365,2 mm were recorded, the highest volume in the historical series, with double the volume recorded in 2020. In the sum of August to October, 2021 has the highest accumulated precipitation for the period in the last five years, with 539,7 mm.
“The large volume of rain recorded in the first ten days of November greatly favored the advancement of planting and the initial development of soybean crops for the 2021/2022 harvest in Sinop”, states the publication.
The 2021/2022 harvest is the sixth in a row in which researchers from Embrapa Agrossilvopastoril have monitored it through Agrometeorological Bulletins. Three documents are published for each agricultural cycle. The first is carried out in November and analyzes the sowing period of the first harvest. The second, published in March, portrays the development and harvesting of soybeans and the sowing of the second crop. The third bulletin is made in June and contains data from the remainder of the second harvest.
This publication is a service developed by Embrapa, upon demand from the productive sector, to provide technical information to producers and rural credit and financing institutions.
