Producers in the northern region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul affected by hailstorms in early November received donations of corn seeds through the 100% Corn Program. The initiative had the support of the brands Biomatrix, Limagrain, and Santa Helena, which joined the Secretariat of Rural Development (SDR) and Emater/RS to offer immediate support to family farmers who suffered significant crop losses.

In total, 756 sacks of corn were delivered to the municipalities of Barra Funda, Novo Barreiro, and Sarandi. "This corn will help producers resume their production, which unfortunately was compromised by the weather," said the Secretary of Rural Development, Vilson Luiz Covatti.

For farmer Sérgio Milani, the first beneficiary in Sarandi, the impact of the donation is positive. He reported that the new seeds will be used for silage production. “I had never seen rain like the one that occurred at the beginning of the month. It devastated the entire crop. This help arrived in time for us to be able to produce this season,” he stated.

The 100% Corn Program is an initiative of the SDR (Secretariat of Rural Development) that encourages corn production in Rio Grande do Sul, offering high-quality seeds and technical support to family farmers.
