Edivilson Brum, a first-term state deputy, has taken over as state secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation of Rio Grande do Sul (Seapi-RS). Brum will occupy the position held by Clair Kuhn since June of last year. The appointment was published in an extra edition of the State Official Gazette on Wednesday (9/4).
According to the new secretary, irrigation will be one of the priority projects. “We have a very low percentage of irrigated crops and we have to face this situation and its bottlenecks. Farmers’ debt is also a priority. In the last five harvests we have had frustrations and this has caused our farmers to go into debt. The people of Rio Grande do Sul want to pay their bills and honor their commitments, but we need the federal government to be more sensitive to this issue. And we will talk together”, he concludes.
