Soybean harvesting in Rio Grande do Sul has reached 79% of the cultivated area for the 2025/26 crop season, according to the Conjunctural Report released this week by Emater/RS. The state has a total of 6,62 million hectares planted, with an estimated average productivity of 2.871 kg/ha.
There are still 21% of crops in the field, with 20% in the maturation stage and 1% in the grain-filling stage. However, the progress of operations has been hampered by frequent rains and high humidity, which are reducing harvest windows.
According to the organization, the weather conditions keep the plants with a high moisture content, which impacts the pace of work and favors qualitative losses, such as increased impurities and a higher incidence of damaged grains.
In late-planted and second-crop areas, water availability has contributed to grain filling. On the other hand, there is greater disease pressure, especially Asian soybean rust and late-season pathogens, in addition to the incidence of stink bugs.
Productivity shows strong variability between regions. Crops planted during more favorable periods with better rainfall distribution perform well, while areas affected by drought, fertility limitations, or soil compaction accumulate losses that, in some cases, exceed 50% of the productive potential.
Corn harvesting progressed little last week, reaching 92% of the area, impacted by rain and the prioritization of other crops. The remaining areas are distributed among maturation (4%), grain filling (4%) and flowering (1%), mainly in late and second-crop plantings.
The average state productivity is estimated at 7.424 kg/ha in an area of 803 hectares, with performance close to the projected figure in most crops.
For corn destined for silage, the harvest has reached 89% of the 345 hectares cultivated. The remaining areas, mostly late-planted, show good biomass accumulation, favored by water conditions. However, excess moisture can compromise the quality of the ensiled material. The average productivity is estimated at 37.840 kg/ha, with occasional variations related to the weather.
The harvest of the first bean crop has been completed, with an estimated average yield of 1.781 kg/ha. This result may still be revised downwards due to losses recorded in the Campos de Cima da Serra region, which accounts for approximately 40% of the cultivated area.
In the second crop season, the crops are mostly in reproductive stages, with 44% in grain filling and 13% in flowering. Harvesting is progressing slowly and has reached 18% of the area. Overall, the crops are performing well, although the high humidity may favor diseases in the final stages of the cycle. The projected average yield is 1.401 kg/ha.
The rice harvest is also nearing completion, with 93% of the area harvested, according to data from Irga. The remaining areas are maturing and ready for harvest.
Despite occasional interruptions caused by rain, the harvest is showing good overall performance, with high yields and satisfactory grain quality. The average yield is estimated at 8.744 kg/ha.
The establishment of winter pastures is underway in all regions of the state, varying according to weather conditions. Crops such as oats and ryegrass are showing good germination, favored by recent rains, although there are some localized delays. Areas already planted show good initial establishment, but most have not yet reached ideal grazing conditions.
