Nutrien launches environmental compliance booklet at the 12th ANDAV Congress
Material guides Brazilian rural producers on how to comply with socio-environmental legislation
Subject to weather conditions to carry out operations in the field, the farmer needs to ensure that his machinery is ready to be used in the available time window. This is possible with the advance preparation of equipment to correct small technical details and reduce maintenance costs. Furthermore, it allows the mechanic to carry out the service more smoothly and efficiently.
To program the actions, two factors must be considered: the task that each machine will perform and the equipment's history. For new machines, as long as maintenance is up to date, simply make the settings to start work. In the case of those with longer periods of use, a technical analysis is essential in order to opt for a more extensive overhaul, ensuring continuous operation during the working season.
Each type of equipment, tractors, planters, harvesters and sprayers, has its own particularities and different maintenance recommendations. In general, the more complex the machine, the greater the attention required to ensure its efficiency. Particularities, such as specific deadlines and times for replacing and changing oil, filters and other components, are described in the operator's manual.
“The use of applications, such as Mão na Roda Massey Ferguson, which can be downloaded for free on your cell phone, helps you consult this information and understand the operational part of each piece of machinery”, explains Jorge Camargo, AGCO Field Technician for Massey Ferguson.
Different crops and soil conditions also impact the preparation and configuration of agricultural machinery. Tractors, for example, need to be correctly adjusted to adapt to the traction reactions of the terrain and relief.
It is worth mentioning that the operator's knowledge and careful observation are essential to carry out appropriate care and avoid future problems. “In addition to technical knowledge, the professional must be attentive to the signals emitted by the machine during its operation. Unusual noises or any indication of malfunction must be promptly identified and reported”, highlights Camargo.
The operator can contribute by providing relevant information about the machine's performance over time, which can help define more appropriate preventive actions. This exchange of information is valuable for maintenance planning, which must be carried out with the support of qualified professionals.
“The dealerships have technicians trained by the brand and specialized tools, ensuring that maintenance is carried out properly and efficiently. Maintenance carried out within the standards established by the manufacturer guarantees greater peace of mind for the farmer. The use of original parts and the execution of procedures in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications result in a quality service and, in case of eventualities, maintenance carried out within the standards can be supported by a warranty on the parts, providing security to the producer”, highlights the expert.
