The rains recorded between January 21 and 27 brought challenges to rural producers in Paraná in some regions of the state, with flooding and mobility difficulties on rural roads. Despite this, the rainfall played a crucial role in replenishing soil water, benefiting crops such as soybeans, corn and vegetables. This is what is indicated in the most recent Weather and Cultivation Conditions Bulletin from the Department of Rural Economy (Deral) of Paraná, which analyzes the period from January 21 to 27, 2025.

The first potato crop is close to completion, with 1% of the areas harvested and 83% in good condition. The planting of the second potato crop is progressing slowly, reaching 95%, while 2% of the areas already planted are in good condition.

In the case of beans, the 1st crop is almost completely harvested (91%), with 90% of the crops in good condition. The planting of the 2nd crop is at 26%, with 95% of the areas showing good conditions.

The first soybean crop is progressing with 1% harvested and 18% of the crops considered to be in good condition, with 79% in the fruiting stage. Despite the benefits of the rains, some areas face problems with diseases and low expectations of recovery, especially where rainfall was scarce.

In the case of the first corn crop, 1% of the areas have already been harvested and 5% of the crops are in good condition. The planting of the second corn crop, in turn, is progressing slowly, reaching 93%, with some germination difficulties in areas where rainfall has been irregular.

Other crops, such as grapes, mangoes, guavas and oranges, are still being harvested, with good commercial prospects. The passion fruit harvest is expected to begin in February, while cassava producers are maintaining cultivation practices in single-cycle areas and successfully harvesting in double-cycle areas.

The tobacco harvest is progressing, with producers concentrating on drying the leaves in greenhouses. Meanwhile, the coffee crop, which is in the fruiting phase, is showing good development, favored by adequate soil moisture.

Despite the climate challenges, the rains brought benefits to the soil and ensured good conditions for most crops. However, the irregularity of rainfall reinforces the need for constant monitoring and planning by farmers.
