The Port of Paranaguá led soybean exports throughout Brazil in August, with a volume of 2 million tons, reaching US$845,9 million FOB—the value corresponding to the price of the product at the point of shipment. This represents 21,7% of the total volume exported by the country in the same period.

From January to August 2025, 11,3 million tons of soybeans were shipped from the Port of Paranaguá, worth US$4,5 billion FOB. This figure exceeds the total exported by Paraná producers by US$1,2 billion, according to data released last week by the Paraná Institute for Economic and Social Development (Ipardes).

The difference lies in the fact that the Port of Paranaguá also handles cargo from other states. "This clearly demonstrates that we are ready to serve our entire hinterland, which includes Paraná and parts of Santa Catarina, São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, and Goiás," emphasizes Luiz Fernando Garcia, CEO of Portos do Paraná.

The main destination for soybeans exported during the period was China, which accounted for over 90% of demand. Next came Thailand (2,2%) and Iraq (1,6%).

Although a third of the month was marked by rain, which paralyzed operations, the Port of Paranaguá handled 7 million tons in August, the highest amount recorded for the month in the historical average.

According to Port Operations Director Gabriel Vieira, even with the increase in grain shipments, vessels are not waiting in line to dock. "Our export corridor doesn't face a single day of queues beyond what is necessary for clearance and docking procedures," he emphasizes.

Soybean meal

Another product that has been gaining increasing market share is soybean meal. Exports registered through the Port of Paranaguá represent 29,1% of national movement, the second largest volume in Brazil, with 4,5 million tons shipped in 2025. In August alone, 508 tons were handled.

The main destinations were the Netherlands (Holland), France, South Korea, Spain, Indonesia, and Germany. In the eighth month of the year, France led the way in bran imports.
