Planting of the Official Opening of the Lowland Rice and Grain Harvest Area has begun

Rice crops for the event, which will take place in February 2025 in Capão do Leão (RS), began sowing last weekend

The organization of the Official Opening of the Rice and Grain Harvest in Lowlands, which will have its 35th edition, from February 18 to 20, 2025, again at the Terras Baixas Experimental Station, of Embrapa Clima Temperado, in Capão do Leão (RS), began planting the area for the opening ceremony of the event. This weekend, the machines entered the space designated for the Breno Prates crop and began sowing.

According to the Technical Director of the Federation of Rice Growers Associations of Rio Grande do Sul (Federarroz), André Matos, technologies from BASF, Irga and Embrapa were used. “Embrapa used Pampa CL, which is currently the second most widely planted cultivar in the South region. Irga brought a new product, Irga 432, which is not Clearfield, but a conventional material. And BASF brought Provisia 132, launched last year, and also Libero 522 CL,” he points out.

The 2024 edition received 15,3 thousand visitors during its three days of the event and the estimate for next year is to receive around 16 thousand visitors from different regions of the country and abroad. The event is organized by Federarroz and co-organized by the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) and the National Rural Learning Service (Senar RS), in addition to the support of the Rio Grande do Sul Rice Institute (Irga). The 2025 event will have as its theme “Food Production in the Pampa Gaúcho: a vision of the future”.
