Phytosanitary planning is an important phase for the success of soybean farming

Harvesting a good soybean crop depends on several factors and adequate planning has an important impact on the result. Satis' research and development manager, Aedyl Lauar, highlights that producers have already started purchasing inputs for the next harvest and, at this stage, attention should be focused on the nutritional aspect. Planning includes assessing the need for soil correction, mainly in relation to the presence of boron. The influence of this item on the development of different cultures is so great that it has become the most researched nutrient in the world. The properties of boron are important for both the reproductive part of plants and grain filling.

Work already carried out in previous harvests in the Central-West region by the technical department of Satis, a company specializing in plant nutrition solutions, showed that the ideal boron content in the soil is 0,7 to 1,0 mg/dm3, but soils Brazilian crops have a very low level of this element, which has greatly hindered the achievement of high-performance crops. Boron availability in soil is affected by factors such as temperature, humidity, acidity, texture and organic matter content. For this reason, sandy soils are poorer than clayey soils. To contribute to nutrient replacement, Satis developed the HumicBor, a fourth generation fertilizer that, in addition to supplying the low concentrations of boron in the soil, provides greater rooting and plant growth, improves flowering and grain filling, meeting crop requirements.

Lauar notes that soybean crop planning must also include care in choosing the cultivars that best adapt to the region, taking into account the history of resistance to adversity. “It is necessary to evaluate which materials present the best productive performances”, he adds. At this stage, Satis products such as Vitakelp e Nodular They are important to assist in good seed germination and initial plant development, promoting good crop establishment. Vitakelp acts as a physiological protector, showing good results in plant rooting and, as a consequence, greater absorption of water and nutrients. Nodular increases root volume and the number of nodules, improving vegetative development.

With proper management, it will be possible to achieve good crop productivity. In the 2019/2020 harvest, the country harvested around 120,4 million tons of soybeans, 4,7% more than the 115 million tons in the previous season. The expectation for the next harvest is around 131 million tons of soybeans.
