The winter harvest began in Paraná with the planting of wheat. According to the Department of Rural Economy (Deral) of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply, the work involves municipalities in the North of the State, respecting the Agricultural Climate Risk Zoning published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.

Although the forecast is that wheat planting will last until the end of May, the work has not yet gained intensity, as the priority is the soybean harvest and the planting of second crop corn, which were delayed. This delay is one of the factors that contributed to the 13% increase in wheat area this year compared to 2002, reaching 1,36 million hectares.

Some producers tested earlier plantings (March) to be able to sow a second crop in autumn/winter. However, due to the high agronomic and financial risk, the area volume does not reach 1%.

The wheat farmer's motivation in relation to planting wheat is also due to the expectation of profitability. Last year, most producers had positive margins, and now, even with the drop in prices, they are betting on positive results.

Regarding the soybean harvest, work advanced 12 percentage points last week, with the harvest of approximately 700 thousand hectares. These numbers are close to the historical average for the period, bringing normalization to the culture.

The first corn harvest had its harvest completed in 70% of the total area estimated at 387 thousand hectares, and the second harvest had its planting practically completed, with 99% of the 2,5 million hectares sown.

In relation to beans, the bulletin points out that in the last week, prices remained stable compared to the previous week, with colored beans sold on average at R$ 408,00 per bag, while the black type was R$ 267,00, 296. The second harvest is in the field in an area of 589 thousand hectares, with production estimated at 93 tons and development considered satisfactory, with XNUMX% of the area in good condition and the rest, average.
