The harvest of soybeans and corn, two of the main products of the Paraná summer harvest, is practically in 50% of the respective areas. In the case of beans, 97% has already been achieved. The analysis is part of the Agricultural Situation Bulletin, from the Department of Rural Economy (Deral), from the Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply (Seab), for the week of March 10th to 16th.

Despite the rains, which still keep the harvest volume below initial expectations, progress was made last week. Soybeans saw an increase of over 1 million hectares harvested, increasing the percentage removed from the fields from 30% to 48%. On average, this percentage should be reached in the previous week.

If productivity continues at its current level, a record harvest is expected for the State, exceeding the 20,8 million tons obtained in 2020, and even the projection of 20,9 million made in February. The majority will be transported through the Port of Paranaguá, primarily by road.

Despite the half-lane flow at two points on BR-277, on the Coast, the Port of Paranaguá continues to operate normally. In the last 24 hours, 1.093 trucks were received at the public sorting yard. Throughout this week, from Monday (13) to Wednesday (15), 3.778 vehicles accessed the location where transporters wait to unload solid vegetable bulk for export (soy, corn and bran) at the port terminals.

Corn

First-crop corn has already had half of its crop harvested, recording good productivity this week. However, work is progressing slowly, as the priority is the soybean harvest. In contrast, planting of the second corn crop is accelerated, reaching 61% of the projected area. The previous week, the percentage was 37%.

Bean

The bean harvest is also affected by the weather, but of the 115 thousand hectares cultivated in the first harvest, around 97% have already been harvested. The rainy season, however, has not harmed the quality of the product, even though producers complain about low productivity.
