Sowing reached 94% of the projected area, with late advances in the Campanha and Sul regions
Movement in Paraná ports reached 62.213.194 tons between January and November 2024. The number represents an increase of 5,4% compared to last year (59.017.027 tons).
“Five years ago, we structured port logistics to work more efficiently, focusing on productivity. In addition, we increased the draft of most berths at the Port of Paranaguá, reaching a depth of 13,1 meters, which increased the cargo capacity operated by each ship by approximately 2 tons,” stated CEO Luiz Fernando Garcia.
Soybean meal is among the largest export volumes. From January to November this year, there were 5.885.834 tons, a number 3% higher than in the same period in 2023 (5.701.440 tons). Currently, the Port of Paranaguá is the second largest export channel for soybean meal in Brazil, representing 27,7% of the national movement. According to the National Association of Cereal Exporters (Anec), the expectation is that soybean meal exports in 2024 will be close to that recorded last year, between 22,4 and 22,9 million tons moved in the country.
Bulk sugar exports also showed growth in the period. There were 5.864.612 tons in 2024, an increase of 24% compared to 2023 (4.739.114 tons). The commodity continues to grow steadily throughout the year. The main destinations are Algeria, Indonesia and Iran.
Among the cargo handled from January to November 2024, imports led the growth in the period. There were 24.338.899 tons, 21% more than in 2023 (20.198.008 tons). Fertilizers and containers presented the largest total volume.
“9.977.003 tons of fertilizers were transported for import, 12% more than in the same period last year (8.930.172 tons). We continue to lead the country’s fertilizer import operations, accounting for 24,5% of the national movement,” highlighted the Director of Operations at Portos do Paraná, Gabriel Vieira.
Containers showed growth of 39%, rising from 4.799.340 tons in 2023 to 6.684.202 tons in 2024. The largest volume is in the “Other Products” category, which includes containerized goods not individually specified in the reports and graphs, such as plastics, chemical products and machinery.
