From January to June 2024, the ports of Paraná reached the mark of 33.780.236 tons handled, a historic record for handling in the first half of the year, 9% more compared to the same period in 2023 (30.898.006 tons). “Of the first six months of the year, four of them registered records for monthly movement, which gave us an excellent semester in terms of results. These achievements show how prepared we are to grow and move more and more, serving our customers with quality and sustainability”, emphasized the CEO of Portos do Paraná, Luiz Fernando Garcia.
In the first half of the year, fertilizers were the cargo with the highest volume: 4.777.376 tons imported, 3% higher than in 2023 (4.650.747 tons). Paraná remains the main entry point for the commodity in Brazil, representing 24% of everything that arrives in the country. Sugar, containers and soybean commodities showed the highest results in exports. Soybeans were the commodity that moved the most in exports. In 2024, there were 8.057.637 tons, a 10% increase compared to 2023 (7.321.508 tons).
“Paraná ports were responsible for half of the growth in soybean exports in the country during this period. This shows how much we have grown nationally and our responsibility in moving a rapidly expanding market”, highlighted Operations Director, Gabriel Vieira.
Bulk sugar had the biggest growth in volume in the period: from 1.668.102 tons handled in 2023, it rose to 2.881.853 tons in 2024 – an increase of 73%. Sugar in bags almost doubled this year, rising from 205.861 tons last year to 403.361 tons in the first six months of 2024, a growth of 96%.

In total, 780.457 TEUs were handled (measured for 20 feet of container length), which represented an increase of 37% compared to 2023 (569.599 TEUs). Frozen meat was responsible for the increase in exports. Electronics, chemicals and automobiles account for the increase in imports.
