State remains among the three largest producers in the country and reinforces its leading role in the sugar-energy chain
The Paraná Agricultural Defense Agency (Adapar) is promoting “Operation Big Citrus” between May 12 and 16, focusing on the municipalities in the regions of Cornélio Procópio and Londrina. The action seeks to reduce the incidence of Greening, a pest that threatens citrus farming.
The task force will operate in commercial and non-commercial areas, including abandoned orchards and isolated plants. Citrus farming is a major economic force in the region. The Integrated Agroindustrial Cooperative maintains a juice factory in Uraí.
The registration of citrus properties in the Plant Health Defense System will also be updated. The information will reinforce monitoring and inspection.
Producers should contact the Adapar regional office for guidance and complaints.
