Paraná begins registering vineyards to reduce pesticide damage

The Paraná Agricultural Defense Agency (Adapar) will begin registering properties where grapes are grown in the state. The measure aims to map the location and characteristics of vineyards in order to plan preventive and educational actions against pesticide drift.

The announcement was made this Thursday (15/5), during a meeting with producers and authorities in Marialva, at ExpoIngá. The municipality leads the production of grapes in Paraná. The meeting was led by the president of IDR-Paraná, Natalino Avance de Souza, and the director of Agricultural Defense at Adapar, Renato Young Blood.

The proposal for the registry is part of a set of suggestions from the Northern Paraná Association for Research and Fruit Growing (Anpef), which also advocated the creation of a herbicide registry with information on the impact on sensitive crops and greater preventive monitoring.

Young Blood highlighted the technical advances in the region. According to him, Adapar has managed to reverse the situation of sprayers with inadequate nozzles. The proportion went from 90% with problems to 90% in safe conditions. Despite this, the incidence of contamination by drift is still a concern.

To address the problem, the state intends to restrict the application of hormonal products near areas where grapes are grown. Registering properties will be essential in this process. "We are fighting alongside the producers, but we want the work to be carried out in a balanced and consensual manner," said Young Blood.
