With the theme “Food Production in the Pampas of Rio Grande do Sul: A Vision of the Future,” the Official Opening of the Rice and Grain Harvest in Lowlands reaches its 35th edition, highlighting in its program the importance and richness of the Pampa Biome and bringing a vision of a sustainable future of the potential of this territory. The event will take place between February 18 and 20, at the Terras Baixas Experimental Station, of Embrapa Clima Temperado, in Capão do Leão (RS).

The president of the Federation of Rice Growers Associations of Rio Grande do Sul (Federarroz), Alexandre Velho, reports that the Harvest Opening aims to address fundamental issues for the sustainable maintenance of rural producers on their properties. According to the director, the event's schedule will once again include a meeting of the National Rice Sector Chamber and also include issues in the areas of management and international market, as a strategic opportunity.

Velho also highlights the launch of new cultivar technologies and the issue of traceability in the rice chain, which “provides transparency from the field to the consumer’s table.” “Another important activity will be the commodity marketing panel with tools to provide producers with greater security regarding the sale price of their products,” he says, also highlighting the industry sector that will once again be present. “In other words, we will have everything from the crop to the post-harvest stage in the technological showcases, with an even larger industry sector this year,” he celebrates.

The 2025 edition of the Official Opening of the Rice and Grain Harvest in Lowlands will once again present new technological tools to assist producers in their rural activities through the Digital Arena. This space will address topics such as connectivity opportunities in agriculture, climate impacts, among others. “In short, this is increasingly an essential event for producers to stay up to date and seek new tools, new alternatives for their businesses,” says Velho.

The program will feature a variety of activities, such as: a Products and Services Fair, 50 Technological Showcases, which are demonstration farms of the technical itinerary with innovations in genetics, nutrition and plant protection, irrigation systems, Management Panels, International Market and Commodity Trading, as well as Seminars and Lectures that will address key topics for producers. The Embrapa and Irga stands will present essential technical content for producers.

Other highlights of the program will be the Rice Paddle Tributes given to professionals who have stood out positively in the sector, in addition to the recognition of companies and producers who supported Drenar RS. And, on February 20, at 16:30 pm, the Official Opening of the Rice Harvest ceremony will take place, which has a new date and time.
