Paddy rice prices continue to fall in Rio Grande do Sul, according to information from Cepea. In the December partial (between November 30th and December 8th), the ESALQ/SENAR-RS Indicator, 58% whole grains, with payment in cash, recorded a drop of 3,9%, closing at R$ 98,31/bag 50 kg on Tuesday, December 4th.

This downward movement is linked to purchasing pressure, as some industries show little interest in new acquisitions – many agents have only worked with receiving lots previously purchased on spot or imported, remaining absent for new bark negotiations.

Imports

In November, according to Secex, the volume of cereal purchased by Brazil was 186,37 thousand tons of rice (husk equivalent), the largest since December 2003 and 27,3% higher than the volume received in Oct/20.
