Ouro Verde in partnership with Raízen makes the first rental of semi-autonomous trucks to transport sugarcane

Replacing the tractor fleet with semi-autonomous trucks is a trend

Starting in April, the next sugarcane harvest in the fields operated by Raízen, in the sugar, ethanol and bioenergy production sector in the country, will have new allies in logistics. Ouro Verde, a specialist in fleet management and outsourcing, expanded its partnership with the company through the rental of 308 pieces of equipment, including trucks and implements from the Volvo, Scania, Mercedes-Benz - Grunner, Santa Izabel, Facchini and Fliegl brands. In terms of investment volume, the contract represents one of the largest negotiations on the market in the heavy vehicle segment.

For Ouro Verde's CEO, Cláudio Zattar, replacing the tractor fleet with semi-autonomous trucks is a trend that is being consolidated with robust projects like this. “We offer our customers the best on the market, in terms of innovative solutions and cutting-edge technology to meet their needs. In addition to being pioneering, the solution offered to Raízen provides benefits such as lower operating costs, greater efficiency in harvest logistics and greater equipment productivity,” he said.

Among the leased items are level 3131 autonomous Axor 2 Mercedes Grunner trucks. In addition to being the first rental contract for this type of equipment for Ouro Verde, the negotiation represents one of the biggest sales in the history of Grunner, specialized in solutions for the field. The equipment, fully customized to operate in sugarcane plantations, is prepared to not damage the planted area, standing out for its great performance by providing more efficiency in traffic on irregular roads, lower maintenance costs, greater fuel economy and more security. Volvo FMX mechanical horses, Scania G540 mechanical horses, as well as implements from the Facchini and Fliegl brands were also acquired by Ouro Verde and leased to Raízen.
