The carryover stocks of orange juice from the 2021/22 harvest (on June 30, 2022) were confirmed to be quite low, totaling 143,1 thousand tons of concentrated juice equivalent, as released this week by CitrusBR (National Association of Juice Exporters Citrus).

This volume was 55% below that of the previous harvest and also below the strategic level of around 250 thousand tons. And according to the Association, even with the increase in orange production in the 2022/23 harvest, there is no expectation of recovery in the amount of juice stored at the end of the season, estimated at 140 thousand tons in June 2023.

This is because, according to Cepea researchers, despite the recovery in the volume of raw material destined for milling, industrial yield should be lower than last season, due to the reduction in the area under orange production in recent years. Furthermore, CitrusBR's figures consider a possible increase in juice exports to the United States, given that orange production is low in Florida.
