Table orange prices have been on the rise since the start of the harvest in June, driven by low supply of the fruit. Therefore, the variety has already been trading above R$ 50,00/box of 40,8 kg (on the tree) in the second half of October, renewing the nominal maximum in Cepea's historical series. In the partial average of this month (until the 21st), the fruit is sold in São Paulo at R$ 49,76/cx of 40,8 kg, on the tree, 10% above the average recorded in September and 28% above the October/20, in nominal terms.

According to Cepea employees, there was already a consensus among sector agents that the 2021/22 harvest would not have a high supply, due to the effects of the weather on the opening and, mainly, on the setting of the flowers. However, as the season progressed, adverse weather conditions intensified, with less-than-ideal rainfall and frost in some areas at the end of July, further reducing the availability of oranges, especially those of ideal caliber for commercialization.

As for Tahiti acid lime, the recent return of rain has already favored production and increased supply. Thus, the variety registered a new devaluation in São Paulo orchards this week, being sold at an average of R$ 24,27/box of 27 kg, harvested between October 18th and 21st, a decrease of 4,4% compared to the week last.
