SP and DF sign protocol for partnership in fruit growing
Protocol of intentions is the formalization of the first stage of the partnership between the states
New Holland, a CNH brand, and the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR) have entered into a partnership to modernize and renovate the Gralha Azul Experimental Farm (Fega), a unit located in Fazenda Rio Grande (PR), which serves as teaching and research support for undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to agriculture, especially Veterinary Medicine and Agronomy.
With this, six new tractors will be made available to support the activities of these courses and the Veterinary School Clinic. “With this partnership, we want to strengthen ties with the academic community through one of the country's leading universities, revitalizing the machinery park with new technologies and providing technical support to help train future professionals in our agriculture,” says Eduardo Kerbauy, vice president of New Holland for Latin America.
The PUCPR School Farm that will receive the tractors has 200 hectares distributed in different sectors. In addition to the administrative/academic area, which has classrooms, an auditorium, a cafeteria, an event hall and common areas, the farm has a
Veterinary School Clinic (Fega Unit), which has its own educational herd of horses and cattle, and annual crops, fruit growing, vegetable growing, pastures and a machinery shed.
“The signing of this agreement with New Holland is a historic milestone not only for PUCPR, but, I dare say, for the future of education, research and innovation in the agro-industrial sector. It is the materialization of a shared commitment to academic excellence, technological advancement and the sustainable development of Brazilian agriculture,” says Brother Rogério Mateucci, dean of PUCPR.
The agreement provides for the supply of six New Holland tractor models, namely: 1 TL5.80 tractor for general use; 1 T4.75s tractor for operations at the Veterinary School Clinic – large animals, sheep farming, rabbit farming, horticulture and fruit farming; 1 TL5.100 tractor to support cattle farming, agriculture, general services and replacement of machines undergoing maintenance; 1 T6.130 tractor to support activities developed by agriculture; 1 T6.110 tractor for general use; and 1 T4.75N to support feeding of dairy animals.
In addition, New Holland will be responsible for the ambiance of the Gralha Azul Experimental Farm, bringing the brand closer to teachers and students in their daily lives. The partnership will also provide the opportunity to open an internship program for students.
In the future, New Holland plans to help train students in all aspects of digital agriculture, going beyond agricultural mechanization and working on concepts and technologies linked, for example, to machine telemetry, connectivity and agricultural management as a whole.
In return, CNH/New Holland employees and their dependents will be entitled to a scholarship package with discounts on PUCPR courses. The brand will have the additional benefit of using the farm's facilities for its own activities, such as training, workshops or the exhibition of new products and services.
