Inspection of Operation Valoriza, carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture (Mapa), identified 14 brands of roasted coffee with foreign matter, impurities or foreign elements above the limits permitted by current legislation. The brands were disqualified, and products considered unfit for consumption must be recalled by the responsible companies. The action is supported by article 29-A of Decree 6.268/2007, which provides for the application of the recall in cases of risk to public health, adulteration, fraud or falsification of products.

Around 168 coffee samples were collected by Operação Valoriza between the 18th and 28th of March 2024. For consumers who have purchased the products, Mapa advises them to stop consuming them, being able to request their replacement in the manner determined by the Code of Consumer defense.

To assist with the collection, the Ministry asks consumers, if they find any of the aforementioned brands being sold, to immediately report it to the Fala.BR channel, informing the establishment and address where the product was purchased.
