The Ministry of Agriculture (Mapa) published today Ordinance No. 56/24, which creates the Thematic Chamber for Agricultural Risk Management of the National Agricultural Policy Council (CNPA). The initiative seeks to strengthen the formulation of policies to face the various challenges that permeate agricultural activity, especially with regard to environmental issues and climate change.

The new forum arises as a response to the need to deal with the risks increasingly present in Brazilian agriculture and livestock. For Mapa's Risk Management director, Jônatas Pulquerio, “the initiative aims to promote a collaborative dialogue between different actors, enabling the construction of more efficient policies adapted to the needs of the sector".

To compose the new Chamber, full and alternate members were appointed from various sectors related to agribusiness, both public and private. Among them are associations, companies in the sector, research institutions, banks, insurance companies and government bodies, all with the common objective of working towards agricultural risk management.

Sectoral and Thematic Chambers

Created by Mapa, the Sectoral and Thematic Chambers function as an advisory arm of the CNPA and are forums for dialogue to identify opportunities for the development of production chains and define priority actions of interest to Brazilian agribusiness and its relationship with domestic and foreign markets. . This link between government and the private sector results in a democratic and transparent mechanism for society to participate in the formulation of public policies.

The Sectoral Chambers, which represent production chains, and the Thematic Chambers, which deal with cross-cutting issues related to production chains, are made up of representatives of national entities, producers, workers, consumers, entrepreneurs, private sector authorities and bodies public, government technicians and financial institutions.
