Unesp researchers find new pest in Pine production
Named "Sirex obesus", the new pest is a species of wood wasp originating in the southern United States and Mexico
Aiming to increase the space of Brazilian agricultural products in exports, the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, met this week with the acting president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Mato Grosso (Fiemt), Frank Rogieri, who presented some sector perspectives so that wood and grain exports through the Port of Paranaguá can be more agile.
Brazil is a signatory to the International Plant Protection Convention of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (IPPC/FAO). Thus, the country follows international recommendations through ISPM-15 - International Phytosanitary Measures Regulation No. 15, which establishes a series of procedures involving wood used in cargo transportation. One of the requirements is that they be treated and have the IPPC mark visible on the material.
Without giving up the high standards of Brazilian Agricultural Defense, the minister discussed processes that could reduce bureaucracy in port procedures, guaranteeing the necessary inspection, but in a more agile way.
“We broke a record for opening markets for Brazilian agricultural products, we have already conquered 160 new markets, but we are also investing in actions so that our exports are even more efficient and Brazilian products gain even more space in the world”, highlighted the minister .
Thus, permanent dialogue with different sectors helps to identify processes that can be optimized. After the meeting held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), which also included the participation of the director of Technical Services of the Secretariat of Agricultural Defense (SDA), Graciane Castro, a new round of debates should be held with representatives from the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) and the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama).
